HI-GEARImproves community based social and recreation skills resulting in increased personal well being and community inclusion. HI-GEAR stand for "Handicapped Involved in Games, Entertainment, Arts and Recreation." HI-GEAR is a community based arts and recreation program which takes place after work hours and on weekends. A variety of sports, cultural and recreational events along with the fundamentals of sports, increase self esteem, sportsmanship and pride for each individual. Each person has the freedom to choose the activities they would
like to participate in, which can range from craft classes at the local
hobby shop to line dancing to swimming or sports activities at the
county park. There is door-to-door transportation provided for local
activities and the use of Storer Coachways for out-of-town trips. Our
out of town trips offer trips to large state parks, amusement parks,
professional sporting events and dances.
