Independence and community integration for

people with developmental disabilities

Ventures

Maximizing independence through instruction of essential life skill and integration into community resources and activities.

The Ventures Program provides training opportunities and a wide assortment of activities for program participants in both Angels Camp and Sonora.  The people that choose to come to Ventures, do so for a variety of reasons, some of which are:

  • They benefit from an opportunity to train in the natural environment and the community
  • They want a "slow paced" program to match their physical stamina
  • They are working toward more independence in their self care and hygiene needs

The forty people who attend Ventures choose daily among such topics as basic cooking skills, computer, sanding and staining wood products.  Also, working in garden sites both in the Community Garden in Tuolumne City and our garden in Sonora, exercising at Richardson's Spa, or improving communication and social skills.

It is a delightfully diverse group of people that currently comprise the Ventures program.  Visitors and friends are encouraged to visit the program and see for themselves the good things that go on everyday!
